1 to 1 Training

No matter how much you love your dog, sometimes their behaviour can seem confusing and exasperating.  Before we get our dogs, we often have an image of care-free walks and cosy evenings cuddled up on the sofa with our four-legged friend.  The reality can be vastly different, and we end up thinking "What went wrong?"

We invite dogs (and other pets) into our homes and somehow expect them to instinctively understand our rules and requirements, even when they have never been taught them.  We are mystified that other people have seemingly beautifully behaved dogs while ours is a whirlwind of antisocial behaviour and doggy misdemeanours.

In my individual coaching sessions, I can help you to understand your dog and show you how to communicate with your dog more effectively to achieve behaviour that is acceptable to you.  Understanding why your dog might jump up, pull on the lead or not come back when called is the first step to supporting your dog to make different choices which are more acceptable to you and your lifestyle.

I use games and activities which are designed to work on concepts such as focus, engagement and calmness.  You might be surprised to find that there is very little 'traditional' training in my sessions; instead there are plenty of fun activities that you and your dog will enjoy together which will help to improve your relationship and communication.

I passionately believe that coaching your dog is a process that continues over a lifetime and it is not just a quick fix.  Using kindness and rewards, we can improve your relationship with your dog and help to change the behaviours that are a problem to you.  It is my aim to help empower dog owners to coach their own dogs and enjoy a lifetime of companionship.

I hold training sessions in my secure garden.  As I only work with one dog/family at a time, the sessions are suitable for dogs of all ages, breeds and personality type and each session is tailor-made just for you.  If I think that there may be a more serious behavioural issue with your dog, rather than a training need, I may suggest that you contact a suitable dog behaviourist for more focused, expert help.

I am always happy to meet you and your dog before you book training with me - feel free to get in touch to arrange an informal chat.
