About me...

Hi, I'm Vicki and I'm the owner of Stargazer Dogs.

I live on the outskirts of Par on the edge of a rural village and I'm lucky enough to own a beautiful house with a large garden.  When I first acquired my home, I made it a priority to make it suitable for my dogs, with secure fencing and plenty of interesting things for them to explore.

Around a year later, with my teenager growing up fast and heading for independence, I decided to train as a dog professional so that I could spend the rest of my working life doing something that I truly love.

I trained with the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers (IMDT) and became a qualified member of their organisation in February 2020.  I continue to improve my professional development with both the IMDT and Canine Principles, as well as other organisations, to ensure that my knowledge remains up to date and relevant.  In the summer of 2021, I signed up for the Absolute Dogs "Pro Dog Trainer" course and successfully passed a few months later.  I am totally committed to using ethical and kind training methods, without the use of force or fear, instead focusing on helping to change the way a dog feels in order to change their behaviour.  My training style uses games to help dogs learn the life skills that they need to live successfully in our homes.

I live here with my three dogs - Cosmo and Celeste, who are my cheeky whippet siblings and my beautiful Lily, an Afghan Hound.

(By the way, I've named my business in memory of my former Afghan Hound, Pandora, whose Kennel Club name was Stargazer.  Pandora shared her life with her constant companion, Lunar the whippet, and these two dogs were my dearest friends and companions until we lost them both in the Spring of 2019).
